The 2nd Annual Summertime Blues Giveaway

Before I leave this planet in a deluge of foreign beetles, glazed donuts, and wild coyotes, I want to leave a positive imprint upon the world.

Well, that, and the fact that it's summer now, and summer means that the temperature is reaching levels that suppress your very will to live, the children have undone all of your Spring Cleaning in record timing, you're (okay *I'M*) trying desperately to lose 5 years worth of excess poundage in roughly 10 days, and you feel the need to regularly weigh the benefits of tanning what you can't tone versus, you know, SKIN CANCER.

Oh, and if you're in Texas, the lizards are probably starting to knock on your door seeking refuge and air conditioning.

But despite all this, summertime really IS the most wonderful time of the year!

Why?

Because it's time for The Summertime Blues Giveaway!

And this year it's even bigger and better than last year. One lucky reader will walk away with ALL of the following.

OBSERVE:

1. North American Bear Co. Prize Pack

One Color-Me Doll. Complete with super cute hair, soft body construction, and an entire outfit your little designer can color (instead of your walls) I kinda wanted to keep this for myself to relive my own deprived childhood.

One set of Nesting Storybook Puppets. These are seriously WAY cute, and my boys have already started producing variations on The Three Little Pigs involving Ninjas and Transformers.

One Secret Pocket Cape. This superhero cape is like, the real deal. It's so well made, and has an insert on the back so your kid can design his or her own superhero logo.

Topsy Turvy Pet Assortment. These plush dinos, lizards, and turtles can be popped in and out of their eggs so your kids can make them hatch. Kind of like those Popples we had as a kid, but clearly much more badass.

Pirate Adventure Pack. Have a pirate adventure day with this awesome dress-up set! Kids can design their own treasure maps and have a satchel and trusty parrot to help them on their quest for treasure.

2. ZING Toys Prize Pack

One Air Storm Z-X Cross Bow. Are the kids begging to reenact the Hunger Games in the backyard? This bow is a must-have! Sends suction cup darts flying over 45 feet into your neighbor's yard!

One Air Storm Zip-Bak Bow. This one? Flies over 95 FEET! Soft darts won't take out the family dog or baby nephew!

One Air Storm Pop Rocketz. I kind of love this pocket-sized air-powered rocket launcher because you can play it indoors or outdoors, and I may have already stolen it from my kids for Mommy Time.

3. Dixt Boardgame

Holy cow, guys, I haven't been this excited for a boardgame since that one time I got drunk and tried to beat up my college roommate over a game of Pictionary! Dixit is a 3 to 6 player game for ages 8 and up (though, I think even younger kids would enjoy it). How it works:

One player is the storyteller for the turn. He looks at the 6 images in his hand. From one of these, he makes up a sentence and says it out loud (without showing the card to the other players).

The other players select amongst their 6 images the one that best matches the sentence made up by the storyteller.

Then, each of them gives their selected card to the storyteller, without showing it to the others. The storyteller shuffles his card with all the received cards. All pictures are shown face up, randomly, and every player has to bet upon what picture was the storyteller's.
4. Icee Deluxe Slushy Machine

Seriously, do I even need to explain the awesomeness of this one? Who in the audience is suddenly misty-eyed for their old Snoopy Snow Cone maker?

5. Iron Man Armored Adventures DVD

This DVD features six episodes of the admittedly addictive Marvel carton, IRONMAN: Armored Adventures. The boys have been watching it virtually nonstop (in between their flute, violin, and Latin lessons, of course) since we got it in the mail.

...and for the parents to enjoy while the kids are happily entertained with their new toys:

6. Friends with Kids DVD

Jon Hamm, you guys. JON HAMM.

Oh, and freakin' ADAM SCOTT.
