I'll Take Credit For This One

Scene
: Car, driving back from GRANDMA'S, so the kids are maybe delirious, maybe drunk.

Plus One: [Looking gloomily out the window because now he's back with MOM.] That song, Mommy? Sing that song?

Me: You want me to sing to you bugaboo? [Yes, I say that. IT'S CUTE].

Plus One: Okay, that song, Mommy.

Me: Which one? Row Your Boat? Twinkle, Twinkle? [Exhausting the catalog<--really?! That's how you spell that word?! What the...?]

Plus One
: No, Mommy! [Getting desperate]. THIS ONE!

Me: [Finally realizing he's pointing to the radio, which was hardly audible over the rain and highway traffic.] Oh, the radio? Can you even hear that? [I turn the radio up and look back to see him grinning, his little head bopping.]

The song? Doves Cry. Prince. Do I know how to raise them, or what?

  1. My four year old likes Danity Kane, she calls it the 'Fix It, Fix It' song.
My eight year LOVES The Killers, which is at least a little bit cooler.

  4. erin: I've never even heard a Danity Kane song, but I'm pretty sure they're associated with P-Diddy, right? That can't be good. BUT, they're also hitting their target audience, right?!

OEM: He DOES! And so do YOU for using that PHRASE!

Frankenfinger: I thought that link was going to be to his SILENT video on YouTube. That tight ass midget.

  5. I'm going to go with or not. Mostly because I never liked Prince, but I do like the funny stories that Kevin Smith tells about Prince.
